PIGEON FORGE, Tenn.—Dollywood’s 2006 National Gospel & Harvest Celebration (Sept. 29-Oct. 28) welcomes a host of Southern gospel legends along with 49 visiting crafters as Dollywood celebrates the festival’s 30th anniversary.
Dollywood’s Southern gospel roots run deep as does the talent roster for this year’s festival. Award-winning artists Dottie Rambo, the McKameys, the Crabb Family, the Isaacs, the Florida Boys, Karen Peck & New River, the Kingdom Heirs and many more take the stage for free concerts daily from multiple stages throughout the park. All concerts are included with park admission. For a complete concert listing, visit

National Gospel & Harvest Celebration also welcomes 49 visiting crafters, offering guests one of the country’s most prestigious gatherings of artisans. First-time crafters at this year’s event include Kicking Bird Pottery, Zimmer’s Flute Making and Dogwood Farms Soaps & Lotions. Crafters provide daily demonstrations featuring everything from woodturning to apple butter making, offering an up-close glimpse of the artists at work.
Dollywood also hosts one of the nation’s top wood carving competitions and events during the 15th annual Dollywood Woodcarving Showcase Sept. 29-Oct. 1. Approximately 1,000 carvings are displayed in the park’s Celebration Hall. Skill and artistry blend with creativity and humor during the Caricature Carvers of America’s National Competition & Exhibit Sept. 22-Oct. 28 in the park’s Heritage Hall.
A bountiful harvest is the focus of three new festival food booths. The Apple Market offers a variety of Southern heirloom apples, apple fritters and fresh-baked biscuits. At the Appalachian Cooking Booth, it’s Southern cuisine at its finest with Smoky Mountain Spoon Bread and Granny Ogle’s Specialty Cornbread, both served with fried okra and skillet-fried corn, while The Grill offers chicken and steak kabobs.
