Dollywood Hosts 'Days of Praise' in August, September

08/09/2005
Dollywood promises music, fun and fellowship during two Days of Praise events set for Aug. 27, with special guests Joyce Martin and Anointed, and Sept. 21, featuring The Lewis Family, Mark Trammell Trio and the Dixie Melody Boys.

Performing Aug. 27 are Joyce Martin and Anointed.  Martin is a member of The Martins, the popular Southern gospel trio and multiple Dove Award winners.  Martin recently released a solo album entitled Diamonds on a Dusty Road.  Seven-time Dove Award winning duo Anointed features the R&B-flavored gospel vocal styling of Da’dra Crawford Greathouse and her brother Steve Crawford.  Anointed released its latest album, Now Is the Time, in April.  Martin and Anointed perform at 5 p.m.

On Sept. 21, Mark Trammell Trio, The Lewis Family and The Dixie Melody Boys take the stage.  Mark Trammell, a former member of The Kingsmen, The Cathedrals and Gold City Quartet, blends voices with Joseph Smith and Eric Phillips to complete the trio.  Known as the “first family of bluegrass gospel music,” The Lewis Family was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame earlier this year.  The group’s Angels Gathering Flowers album won Bluegrass Album of the Year honors at the 2005 Dove Awards.   The music of The Dixie Melody Boys consistently appears in the Top 10 of Southern gospel radio.  The group’s current single, “God’s Still God,” is from the album A Seat in the Heavenly Choir.  The Mark Trammell Trio, The Lewis Family and The Dixie Melody Boys perform at 5 p.m.

Concerts are in DP’s Celebrity Theatre.  Along with a special meet and greet with the performers, packages include one-day admission to Dollywood, a concert ticket (general admission) and an all-you-can-eat buffet featuring baked chicken, beef pot roast, barbeque pork, green beans, roasted potatoes, glazed carrots, coleslaw, pasta salad, yeast rolls, assorted desserts (including sugar free selections), coffee, tea and soft drinks.
