Children's Author Keiko Kasza Slated to Appear at Dollywood August 6

07/26/2005
PIGEON FORGE, Tenn.—Popular children’s author and illustrator Keiko Kasza visits Dollywood theme park on Aug. 6 where she will sign autographs after both performances (1:15 & 5:15 p.m.) of My Lucky Day, a Dollywood musical based on the book.

A devoted children’s author since 1988, Kasza also wrote When the Elephant Walks, The Mightiest, Dorothy & Mikey and Wolf’s Chicken Stew
My Lucky Day is one of three Penguin Group (USA) books adapted for the stage at Dolly’s Imagination Playhouse featuring the Penguin Players, a troupe of eight multi-talented singers and actors.  The 20-minute musical brings My Lucky Day to life with custom-built puppets, colorful sets, beautiful costumes and sing-along songs including original music written by Dolly Parton.  Parton makes a special appearance in the show via a videotaped performance.

“Our presentation of My Lucky Day has been so enthusiastically received by our KidsFest audiences,” said Dollywood’s Director of Entertainment Paul T. Couch, “and we look forward to seeing Ms. Kasza’s reaction to our stage adaptation of her delightful book when she watches the show for the first time.”

Penguin (USA) is the exclusive publisher of books for Parton’s Imagination Library, a program that provides a book a month from birth to age five for registered preschoolers in participating areas.  Currently, the Imagination Library is active in more than 500 communities in more than 40 states.  Other titles included in the 60-volume collection and adapted for Dolly’s Imagination Playhouse include Officer Buckle and Gloria and The Little Engine That Could.

Performances at Dolly’s Imagination Playhouse continue through Aug. 7 when the park’s third annual KidsFestsm comes to a close.  All shows, including Clifford the Big Red Dog™ LIVE! and Mad Science Movie Magic® featuring the movies of MGM, are included with park admission.  For more information, please visit www.dollywood.com or call 1-800-DOLLYWOOD.
