Kid Concoctions founders and bestselling authors John and Danita Thomas visit Dollywood’s KidsFest for a signing event June 16-18.
The Thomases are winners of four Parents’ Choice and Dr. Toy Awards for Kid Concoctions, a concept that uses everyday household goods to create inexpensive children’s arts and crafts projects at home. Kid Concoctions promotes learning through the creation of unique arts and crafts projects while teaching life skills, promoting family interaction and stimulating creativity.
The family-fun recipes are included in four top-selling books including “The Ultimate Book of Kid Concoctions,” “The Ultimate Book of Kid Concoctions #2,” “The Ultimate Book of Holiday Kid Concoctions," and "Kid Concoctions & Contraptions.” The series has sold more than four million copies worldwide. Kid Concoctions also is the focus of a two-hour PBS special which has been featured more than 3,000 times on the network. In addition, the duo has appeared on the CBS Early Show, HGTV, Discovery Channel, Donny & Marie, Tony Danza Show, QVC, Lifetime Television and PAX television.
The Thomases will greet guests at Dollywood’s Valley Exhibition Hall located in the park’s Craftsman’s Valley June 16-18 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. each day. At the Kid Concoctions-themed children’s activity center, children can pose for photos with “Goo” and “Gunk,” popular characters from the book series. Also, children can try their hand at making free “concoctions” to take home along with a variety of other craft and art projects.
Dollywood’s KidsFest continues through Aug. 6 with special entertainment just for children and families. “Big Cats & Magic” starring the Fercos Brothers brings exotic cats and grand illusions to DP’s Celebrity Theatre. Other KidsFest entertainment includes Clifford the Big Red Dog™ LIVE show, SpongeBob SquarePants™ turbo action ride, Dolly’s Imagination Playhouse featuring the Penguin Players, Jest In Time Circus of Fools, the Kid Concoctions-themed children’s creative activity center, and sport stacking featuring Speed Stacks.
